We had a full Summer at CAP, having lots of opportunities to bring our CAP community together and socialise through fun activities.
We started our Summer with a splendid Music Evening at TazZa Coffee, where an evangelist from CAP came and shared her testimony and sang some songs. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful. Many were impacted by her story and one of our clients made a recommitment to follow Jesus. Amen!
We then used our Tuesday drop-in to offer a family experience; suitable for adults and children… well everyone really! We partnered once again with Tracey from ASDA who led 3 workshops: fruity yogurt making, bread making and pizza making. All were a great hit, she also gave advice on healthy eating in a fun and interactive way! Thank you Tracey!
We also had an opportunity to go to our local park and have a picnic and play some games together. This was the highlight for many; getting out of our normal meeting place, relaxing in the shade on a sunny day and enjoy watching children and parents interacting through a game of rounders, or blowing bubbles with the younger ones.
We ended our Summer programme with a craft activity; we decorated t-shirts! I was surprised to see how many adults love being creative and took part as much as the children. They helped each other and they all had a fantastic t-shirt to take home! Thanks to Valeria for leading the activity and sharing God’s desire for us to be creative and worshiping him through it.
Activities aside we also had the opportunity to send 5 families (11 people) on a CAP Discovery Break (2 days break at High Leigh Conference Centre, Hertfordshire) – they were all nervous to start with but by the end of the break, none of them wanted to go home. They found the break relaxing. One family had never gone away with her 12 year old and 17 year old daughter! And another young lady made a commitment to follow Jesus!
I asked some of our clients what they liked about our Summer programme and they said: “the community”, “being together doing something fun”, “just getting out” and “doing an activity with our children and learning new skills” What great responses!
It’s pretty awesome to be part of this! A massive thank you to the CAP Team and all your support at UnitedLife – you make these events possible!
